# 465  Penultimate Night of the Regular Season

On the second to last night of the season, all nine scheduled games were played.  There are now only 3 games left in the season.  Seeding is nearly completed and present (HERE).  Much of the seeding appears stable, but we are watching a few key matchups that can make changes in the final seedings.  We will publish them as soon as possible tomorrow night.

Tonight's closest game was Wayne 9-8 over Gananda.  Additional scores included Greece over Gates Chili 19-0, Irondequoit over Thomas 8-4, Hilton over HFL 11-8, Spencerport over Fairport 13-5, Mynderse-Romulus over Geneva 15-8, Waterloo over Marcus Whitman 11-5, Pal-Mac over Penn Yan 18-4 and Pittsford over Brighton 10-7.

ith the final week of the season upon us there were 11 games played tonight (with one being moved to tomorrow).  That leaves us with only 17 games left in the regular season.  Seeding is becoming much more solid (see seeding page HERE); however, it is always important to remember that every game matters and seeding can change up until the last game is played.  Many games tonight were one sided, but two came down to a single goal.  HFL defeated Pal-Mac 9-8 and Churchville-Chili defeated Greece Storm 7-6.

There were 11 games scheduled for tonight in Section Five; we are still pending scores for Eastridge vs. Thomas and Mercy vs. Clarence.  Hopefully, those will be updated soon.  Of the nine remaining games, half were decided by over 10 points.  There were still close match-ups with Geneva defeating Wayne 9-8 and Waterloo defeating Aquinas 8-7.  The remaining scores were Marcus Whitman over Gananda 17-6, Churchville-Chili over Brockport 15-4, Spencerport over Victor 18-5, Mynderse-Romulus over Livonia 18-8, Hilton over Penn Yan 13-6, Brighton over Schroeder 16-7 and Irondequoit over Gates Chili 21-2.

he Finger Lakes has released their 2018 All League Awards and Final Stadings.  The Nine team division released 15 1st Team Awards, 15 2nd Team Awards and 17 3rd Team Awards.  Additionally, Player of the Year honors were given to the top defenseman, attacker and midfielder.  Waterloo's Andy Lee was named Coach of the Year.

he Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2017 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team on Friday. The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by HFL senior Caitlin Muir who was named Player of the Year. She finished the season with 64g-30a.  She will continue to play next season at Michigan.

inger Lakes end of season awards come in with 25 First and 24 Second Team All County Players.  There are also 20 Honorable Mention Players.  In addition, there were 2 All Americans and 2 Academic All Americans.  As well as Defense Player of the Year, a Midfield Player of the Year and an Attack Player of the Year.

# 290  Geneva Scores 10 Straight in Win
eneva scored 10 unanswered goals in their 14-6 win over Eastridge.  This was the first time since before 2005 that the Panthers and Lancers have faced.  Audra Burrall had a great game between the pipes and recorded 9 saves for Geneva.  Offensively, Lauren DeVaney finished with 5g-2a to lead the Panthers.

here were 11 match-ups tonight to end the Week.  Two previously undefeated teams lost their first game tonight: Penn Yan defeated Aquinas 5-3 and Churchville-Chili defeated Lake Shore 14-8.  Brighton defeated RH 8-6 to remaining the only undefeated team (8-0) in Section Five.  Geneva defeated Gananda 7-5, Canandaigua defeated Hamburg 14-0, Mercy defeated Amherst 15-5, Waterloo defeated Mt. eneva held off the late advances by Livonia to defeat the Bulldogs 11-10.  This is the first win of the season for Geneva (1-4) and the first loss for Livonia (4-1).  Both teams played a strong game with standout plays on both offense and defense.  Overall, the game was close throughout and it was either teams to win.
